Wonder Woman TV Update: The CW & Warner Bros. Casting An Amazon – Meet “Iris?”

Deadline tonight had what could be a big scoop – a casting breakdown for the WB/CW Wonder Woman TV project, Amazon. Casting directors are looking for tall actresses (5’8″ or higher). But that’s not the weird part. The breakdown calls for a character named “Iris.” We are hoping this is code for “Diana Prince,” and that the studio and the network just put in “Iris” as a placeholder.

Otherwise, a Wonder Woman named Iris sounds about as interesting as a Catwoman named “Patience Phillips.”

Please note that the studio and the network are checking out potential leads but that no formal order for an Amazon pilot has happened yet.

Here’s the “Iris” casting breakdown. Replace “Iris” with “Diana” and it’ll go down better:

“She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment.
