DC Comics’ Bob Harras Talks About The Wonder Woman TV Costume

At the recent Emerald City Comic-Con, DC Comics Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras revealed that he has seen the TV Wonder Woman costume, and offers some possibly-encouraging news for folks who need convincing that the Wonder Woman TV show will work.

“I’ve seen some sketches for the Wonder Woman costume and I will say this today – there is every intent to make them similar,” he says. “People do these TV shows and these movies because they love the characters. And with DC being able to work much more closely with Warner Bros, I think you’ll be happy with what comes across.”

  1. I’m hoping that costume sketches they’re referring to is based on the classic Wonder Woman. the updated version just looks horrible. we’ll know for sure once promotional photos start rolling out.

I agree! The new one is a design atrosity! There’s nothing iconic about that altnernate universe version that screams out Wonder Woman!

I totally agree. Her iconic outfit would be great. I cannot stand the new one, it just makes her look ordinary and WW is far from that.

Well, I do not recognize or acknowledge the “new” costume from the comic book, as it’s tasteless and ugly (see also “trashy,” “tacky” and “unwanted.”). As is the comic book, these days, and I for one can not wait until they put Diana back to normal. No idea even why we have to contend with the whole mess when Stryzysinski-whatever left after screwing it all up, and I digress. She will wear the traditional, REAL Wonder Woman costume.

It BETTER be the classic costume we all know and love. I can understand adding straps and a change in the leg line(maybe more like boy shorts) but it BETTER have red on top and blue on the bottom with stars. That is why the 70s show worked so well.

I hope it will be similar to Alex Ross Design where it looks like a brest plate rather than a bathing suit. You see she suppose to be a warrior not a contestant on a beauty contest.

Can’t wait to see the new costume, and while I love the classic Wondy duds, they are just a little bit on the nose, I wouldn’t mind a little more of a streamlined approach. Then again, I don’t mind the new outfit in the comic, but I would rather see a synthesis of some of Wondy’s looks for whatever will look best on camera. Some of the boldness of the original but maybe not as conservative a cut as the current one. I don’t mind if she wears the pants/leggings from the current comics, but that outfit needs a little more color, because while I like that look, I can understand fans who think it isn’t ‘Wondy’ enough. While the newer look is sleek and modern to me part of the message of Wonder Woman is that a woman should not have to cover her beauty, and showing it can be natural and empowering, not trashy. Well, whatever they do I just hope it can be taken seriously. As outlandish as the old tv series costuming was, Lynda’s poise carried it, and you believed you were looking at Wonder Woman the first moment you saw her. That, more than anything, is the factor that will make or break the look.
